Former Dallas Executive Sentenced For Fraud
DALLAS (AP) - An ex-executive with a Dallas media group has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after embezzling nearly $800,000 and using some funds to upgrade her home.
A federal judge in Dallas on Wednesday sentenced 46-year-old Marci Johnson of Kaufman. Johnson in June pleaded guilty to mail fraud in a plea deal.
Johnson must also repay the embezzled money to Spaeth Communications, where she formerly was chief administrative officer.
Investigators say Johnson used corporate funds for personal dining, shopping and entertainment. The company money also paid for an outdoor deck, a hot tub, granite countertops and a grill at her home.
Prosecutors say Johnson made false entries in the company's computer system to cover her fraudulent purchases.
