Firefighters Deliver Baby In Strip Club Parking Lot

ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) - Baby William Jones spends a lot of time asleep. He's a peaceful little guy.  However, his entry into this world was anything but.

Earlier this week, William was born in an unlikely place: the parking lot of Flashdancers, a strip club in Arlington.

William's parents, Nate and Amenze Jones, were on their way to the hospital, but the baby couldn't wait.

Nate called 911, and Arlington fire fighters responded within minutes.

"When I asked [my partner] Martinez if he'd ever delivered a baby before and he said no, I was thinking well, nobody in the ambulance has ever delivered a baby," said Arlington firefighter Mark Schellenberger.

But it was no matter to Baby William.  His mother, who's had two children before, knew it was time.

"She said it was coming, and you believe her. She's been through it before," said Edwin Martinez, another Arlington firefighter who responded.

The firefighters delivered William and rushed him to the hospital.  They waited around to make sure he would be ok.

"They didn't take the baby to the NICU," said Michael Wynn, who also helped deliver the baby. "The nurses kept him there and we could tell everything was fine and normal. Then we kind of breathed a sigh of relief."
