FARMERS BRANCH (CBSDFW) -- In response to three mosquito traps testing positive for West Nile Virus, the city of Farmers Branch will spray all residential areas for mosquitoes beginning on Tuesday night.

Weather permitting, the spraying will take place Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning at 9 p.m. and will wrap up by 5 a.m.

As a precaution, residents are urged to bring in or cover pet dishes, cover aquatic ponds and birdbaths, and avoid going outside during spraying.

The city is also reminding residents to take precautions by draining standing water, wearing insect repellent containing DEET, and avoiding being outdoors at dawn and dusk (when mosquitoes are most active).

Mosquito dunks are also available free of charge at Farmers Branch City Hall and at the Farmers Branch Senior Center.

For more information, contact the Mosquito Hotline at 972-919-9868 or visit farmersbranchtx.gov/mosquito.
