Dry Weather Ahead
THE QUICK READ:

- TONIGHT: Mostly Clear, 37, Winds SE 5-10
- FRIDAY: Sunny, 68, Winds SE 15-25 g30
COLD MORNING, COOL DAY
We are expecting ample sunshine through the course of the day as winds diminish. After a cold morning (lows below freezing in areas just west and north of the metroplex) the sun will warm us up to the upper 50's. High pressure is moving in from the north, it'll be right overhead by afternoon. This large area of sinking air will keep the skies clear and the winds light. This will make for some fine fall weather and the coolest day over the next week.
ANOTHER COOL MORNING FRIDAY THEN A WARMER, BREEZY DAY
Winds are going to turn to the southeast overnight and start to pick up by mid-morning. Under clear skies we'll have lows again dip down into the 30's; around 38° - 40° for the metro areas and in the mid-30's in surrounding counties. The high pressure dome slides over to the east and we start getting the return flow. As the winds pick up from the Gulf of Mexico temperatures do as well. Highs will be in the upper 60's tomorrow with a brisk south wind that gets up to 20mph-25mph gusting around 30mph.
CHILLY FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, WINDY WEEKEND
It'll be jacket and sweater weather Friday night with temperatures falling to the mid-50's by 9pm along with a 15-20mph wind. Skies will be mostly clear in the evening but clouds will be moving in through the course of the night. Highs on Saturday jump all the way to the upper 70's by afternoon despite cloudy skies. Winds will again be strong, this time out of the southwest by at 20-25mph with gusts around 30mph. Lows by Sunday morning will only be the mid-60's, very mild and also very windy. Cloudy skies on Sunday will keep temperatures out the record category but highs will get close to 80 degrees regardless (the record is 87°). The winds won't be as bad, steady out of the south at 10-15mph. Below is a look at the SREF model showing the strong winds on Saturday:
AND THEN: RAIN CHANCES
We'll keep rain chances low on Sunday, about 20% coverage by evening. A frontal boundary moves overhead by Monday and hovers over north Texas for the next 48 hours. This increases our rain chances to around 40% coverage by Monday and 60% by Tuesday. The rain and clouds will also force temperatures back to those more typical of fall, highs will stay in the mid-to-upper 60's with lows in the upper 50's. The rain should clear out by Wednesday. We are expecting dry weather for Thanksgiving Day.
