DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police are rallying behind an officer in critical condition at Baylor Hospital.

Loved ones and several officers gathered throughout the evening Friday to support a colleague who collapsed while patrolling East Dallas on bike.

Pictures from a witness show fellow police surrounding the officer and providing aid. DPD says he suffered a medical emergency.

The officer, who has not been identified, was brought to the emergency room of Baylor Medical Center Dallas around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

His family arrived later in a police car, as well as police department command staff and a chaplain.

The department reported Friday afternoon the officer was in critical condition but stable. It has not provided an update since.
