DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Gas prices across Texas have dropped another dime in just the last week. That puts the average price for a gallon of gasoline at $2.40, and Texans are paying 22 cents less than the national average. According to AAA Texas, these prices are 70 cents less than they were one year ago.

Fuel City in Dallas is celebrating the good news by giving motorists an early Christmas gift. Drivers can now fill up their tanks for less than $2.00 per gallon. But, you will have to act fast, because the lines have already started forming.

Despite the wait times, this is the kind of news that has some North Texans changing their holiday plans. "You couldn't come Thanksgiving because the gas was too high," said one man as he filled up his tank. "You can come Christmas now, because gas is low now."

Gas prices have not been below $2.00 in the DFW area since 2005, save for three short periods. According to Fuel City owners, the $1.99 price will last through the weekend.
