DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The City of Dallas will activate its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on a monitoring level starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The decision to open the EOC is based on National Weather Service forecasts of potential rainfall of 7 to 10 inches tomorrow night through Thursday morning.
Tropical Storm Bill could bring heavy rain to Texas and the greater Dallas area Tuesday evening through early Thursday morning. Current weather models predict that Dallas will receive 7 to 10 inches of rain with the possibility of isolated amounts over those levels.
In the event that there is a possibility of localized flooding that can be addressed ahead of time, the City will warn affected residents of possible evacuations, shelter locations and emergency assistance via its Reverse 911 system and with door-to-door contact.
Flash flooding is expected and all areas and roads flooded during the May storms should expect much of the same for this occurrence. Streets closed for extended periods in May will likely again be closed starting tomorrow night.
City crews will pre-stage street barriers and devices starting Tuesday morning in anticipation of road closures.
Residents are encouraged to visit this city website and the National Weather Service for weather updates and information.
