Cold Countdown to New Year's
We had reports of freezing drizzle and flurries along the Red River counties overnight and early this morning. Dry air continues to pour into north Texas. This is clearing away the precipitation and the cloud cover. We'll have lots of sunshine as these strong north winds start to slacken by afternoon. It won't help much, highs will only get into the low 40's:
If you are heading to the Armed Forces Bowl game in Fort Worth later this morning bundle up! It'll get better as the game goes on with less wind and all that sunshine on the stands:
It'll take the rest of the year to recover from this cold shot. Tomorrow's high will get into the mid-50's:
New Year's Eve is going to be dry and mild. Temperatures will be right around 40° around midnight:
We start 2014 with great winter weather. It'll be a little breezy but highs will reach into the low 60's! Another cold front arrives early evening, it'll be cloud cover by Wednesday afternoon but we are not expecting any precipitation with this frontal passage. It'll stay in the 40's on Thursday and barely reach 50° on Friday. Next weekend looks warm on Saturday but colder with slight rain chances on Sunday:
