Teen shot in Arlington dies in Fort Worth, police say
An investigation is underway after police say a teen was shot in the chest in Arlington, but died in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Police told CBS News Texas that officers were sent to the 6600 block of Brentwood Stair Road around 3 a.m. on Sunday for a shooting call. They learned the man had been shot, and he was declared dead.
The department directed further questions about the incident to Arlington Police. Later, Arlington Police shared more information with CBS News Texas.
Arlington Police said a shooting was reported around 3 a.m. along the 3100 block of East Park Row Drive after a resident reported hearing gunshots. However, Arlington officers said they couldn't find anyone injured in the area, nor did they initially see any evidence of a shooting.
The department said Fort Worth Police notified them about 30 minutes later that an 18-year-old victim was at a gas station along Brentwood Stair Road, and a witness had told Fort Worth officers about the shooting at the Arlington complex. Arlington Police said they returned to the complex and were able to find shell casings in the parking lot.
Arlington Police note the witness is cooperating with investigators, who are also working to identify the shooter.
