Cold, cloudy Sunday in North Texas ahead of a warming trend with temperatures reaching 80s midweek

Sunday will be cold and cloudy before temperatures drop to near-freezing Sunday night. This week will be sunny and dry though, with afternoon highs warming into the 70s and 80s.

Sunday night, winds will die down and clouds will clear. Areas across north-central Texas will dip near to below freezing. In areas that remain above freezing, temperatures should still drop into the mid-30s.

A frost advisory is in effect for much of North Texas from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday. It includes Hood, Fannin Collin, Dallas, Navarro, Robertson, Johnson, Rockwall, Coryell, Denton, Ellis, McLennan, Falls, Bosque, Kaufman, Hill, Delta, Milam, Tarrant and Bell counties.

A freeze warning is in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday. Temperatures as low as 28 degrees are expected for Stephens, Young, Wise, Lampasas, Hamilton, Jack, Erath, Denton, Hood, Somervell, Montague, Mills, Parker, Cooke, Palo Pinto, Eastland, Comanche and Grayson counties.

Protect any sensitive plants in the highlighted areas from the cold.

Sunshine finally returns on Monday and dominates our weather pattern for the week. Highs in the 60s are expected.

Each day over the next week should be sunny and dry with highs in the 80s by midweek. 

A cold front may bring a brief cool down Friday into Saturday morning.
