----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Over the last five days we've had very little change in the weather. Its been very for the time of season, the average high this week (including today) is 78°. The typical high for mid-March is 68°. It's also been short in sunshine, the National Weather Service has measured 80% cloud coverage each day.
Today nothing changed. Again it was mostly cloudy, breezy, humid and warm. And again some showers moved across the area, a round this morning and another one in the western counties this afternoon/evening.
Tomorrow, not much different. We'll again get into the upper 70's and again the south wind will pick up to 20-30mph by mid-day. Tomorrow has a better chance of rain by afternoon than the last several days, we'll put the odds at around 30%.
As we've been blogging for the last week, a big weather change comes in for Monday and Tuesday. First, look how the Storm Prediction Center puts the storm risk for Monday morning to Tuesday morning:
Severe weather is possible starting Monday afternoon and lasting to Tuesday morning. Large hail, damaging winds are possible. Very heavy rain is expected over the two days, below you can see how the HPC puts as much as 5" of rain in north Texas:
We'll be keeping you posted on this event. Right now it looks like a decent chance of wet morning commute on Monday but a risk of severe weather and flooding rains for the Tuesday morning commute.
The cold front that brings the severe weather will move through sometime on Tuesday. Expect a very windy day as temperatures finally get cooler again. We'll have a highs in the upper 60's on Tuesday and Wednesday and have lows in the 40's Wednesday and Thursday. Certainly staying above freezing. The return of some sunny weather (by then it'll have been almost a week and a half) happens on Thursday-Saturday.
