Another Arctic Blast Late Week

Here we go with December and we're forecasting another big drop in temperatures by Thursday.  Bitter cold is building, yet again, in northwest Canada and parts of Alaska.  Temperatures there are way below zero.

This arctic air will move southward steadily over the next few days.  Expecting cooler air to arrive Wednesday, but the really cold stuff to get here on Thursday.  It will be windy and very cold Thursday

It will also be wet on Thursday as the upper level winds blow out of the southwest, which will carry disturbances, lift and moisture needed for precipitation in North Texas.

Initially, we'll have just a cold rain during the day on Thursday.  But by Thursday night into Friday, temperatures should be below freezing over a good part of North Texas.  This will lead to a bout of freezing rain during this period.  Still too early to know how impactful this will be, but freezing rain is always problematic for travel in one extreme or another.  Rain/freezing rain should end by Friday afternoon.

It will be very cold Thursday through next weekend, with highs only in the 30s!  Saturday should be dry but we could have more precipitation Sunday.  Bottom line:  enjoy the next couple of days' weather.
