Afternoon and Overnight Storms
Rain chances into north Texas coming from two directions this afternoon and tonight.
This afternoon a line of thunderstorms has started to line up from Hamilton over Stephenville. We expect this line to fill in and intensify; downburst winds are possible with these storms along our western third into this evening. They could easily get into Tarrant county and even into Dallas by end of day. Nice to be talking about rain for the second day in a row.
A line of storms that formed over Kansas today is expected to cross Oklahoma and reach into our northern counties overnight. These storms could produce heavy rain. The chances of these storms reaching into the metroplex is small but not zero. Any activity from these will occur after midnight.
Highs today reached over 100 degrees, yesterday in the upper 90's and tomorrow's forecast of the same will likely prove the exception than the rule of the rest of August. We are expecting very hot weather to return by Sunday and a new streak of 100 degrees days to run to next weekend and beyond.
Afternoon storms are in the forecast tomorrow during the afternoon heating. The coverage is expected to be around 20% but morning clouds and afternoon storms should keep the temperatures out of the 100 plus range for at least one day this weekend.
