Police said the shooter opened fire on officers as soon as they got off an elevator in the building where they were responding to a domestic incident.
Charles Alexander was on the streets at 15, and spent 17 years behind bars knowing he wanted to do something else.

The shooting Tuesday evening on a Red Line train at 47th Street on Tuesday evening follows months of gunpoint robberies and other crimes on trains and train platforms.
