Drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have proved to be especially effective for weight loss, but some health experts are worried their increased use could potentially be harmful to certain patients. Dr. Shauna Levy, medical director of Tulane's Bariatric and Weight Loss Center, joined CBS News to discuss the medications.
FDA approves new weight loss drug Zepbound
The Food and Drug Administration has approved the diabetes drug Mounjaro, which will be marketed as a weight loss drug under the name Zepbound.
Study: Wegovy cuts heart attack, stroke risk
A new study shows the popular weight loss drug Wegovy can also reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke by 20%. That's according to a not yet peer-reviewed clinical trial performed by drugmaker Novo Nordisk that studied more than 17,000 non-diabetic adults with heart disease who were obese or overweight. Cardiologist Dr. Ernst von Schwarz joins CBS News to discuss the significance of the findings.

Lettuce linked to cyclosporiasis outbreak
Lettuce from supplier Taylor Farms was linked to a parasitic disease in an FDA investigation. The FDA advised consumers should avoid shredded iceberg lettuce distributed to Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. Wildfire smoke fouls air across Northeast
