Democratic leadership all in on impeachment

House Democrats are on their way to an extraordinary political clash with President Trump, launching a formal impeachment inquiry. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the president violated his oath of office by directly asking a foreign power, the president of Ukraine, to investigate a political rival. Mr. Trump confirms they spoke about Joe Biden but says he did nothing wrong. He plans to release a transcript of his call with Ukraine’s president Wednesday. Nancy Cordes reports.

Democrats issue first impeachment subpoena

Following a whistleblower complaint this week that started a political firestorm Mr. Trump is facing allegations that he pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a potential 2020 rival, and Biden’s son Hunter in exchange for much-needed military aid. House Democratic leaders issued a subpoena for State Department documents. They are scheduling depositions with officials named in that complaint. Natalie Brand reports.

Texts reveal White House pressure on Ukraine

Newly released text messages reveal how much pressure the Trump administration put on Ukraine to investigate a company linked to former Vice President Joe Biden's son. Former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker, who resigned a week ago, gave Congress pages of text exchanges. He answered questions for more than nine hours Thursday. The Democratic chairmen of three House committees say the testimony reflects "serious concerns." Ed O’Keefe reports.
