Dems fight for breakout moments in debate

The 2020 presidential race is heating up ahead of part two of the first Democratic debate, which will feature former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders and eight other candidates. Ten presidential hopefuls sparred in the first part of the debate with health care, immigration and the economy among the issues discussed. CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett and CBSN political contributor Molly Hooper joined CBSN to break it all down.

Sen. Warner on immigration, Mueller testimony

Senate Democrats have introduced new legislation that would ban the government from separating families in immigration custody. Virginia Democratic Senator Mark Warner, a co-sponsor of that bill, spoke to CBSN's Reena Ninan about the legislation as well as next week's testimony on the Russia investigation from Robert Mueller. Warner also talked about his new bill that would force companies to disclose how they monetize social media data.

Report released on migrant child separations

A new report was released on the repercussions of separating children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border. The widely condemned policy -- which Donald Trump was forced to rescind last summer -- led to the separation of more than 2,600 migrant children from their parents or legal guardians. CBS News politics reporter Camilo Montoya-Galvez and CBS News contributor Leslie Sanchez joined CBSN to discuss the report's findings and what to expect from forthcoming ICE raids.
