Teen Killed In Apparent Gang-Related Shooting In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A 16-year-old boy was killed in what appears to be a gang-related shooting in San Jose late Saturday night, a police lieutenant said Sunday morning.

Police received reports of a shooting around 11:55 p.m. in the 1600 block of Virginia Avenue, according to San Jose police Lt. Jason Dwyer.

Arriving officers determined that two males had been shot there.

One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, died from his injuries a short time later, Dwyer said.

Police said the other victim - whose personal information is being withheld - was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene of the shooting and remain at large, Dwywer said.

The fatal shooting is San Jose's 16th homicide this year.
