San Jose Police Officer's Pinpoint Shot Killed Man Who Gunned Down Fellow Officer

SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) -- The man who shot dead a San Jose police officer was then shot by a fellow lawman in a pinpoint shot that killed him instantly.

The San Jose Mercury News reports Friday that seconds after Scott Dunham gunned down Officer Michael Johnson from the cover of his enclosed second-story balcony, a fellow police officer on Tuesday night shot the 57-year-old Dunham dead.

The new information ended speculation about whether Dunham committed suicide. Johnson was called to the apartment to check on Dunham after a relative reported to police that he was intoxicated, armed and had mental illness.
