Passengers Describe Turbulent Flight To Sacramento As 'Tower Of Terror'
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Passengers say they are happy to be in Sacramento after turbulence on their flight resulted in what they described as a tower of terror.
JetBlue flight 429 was on its way to Sacramento from Boston when it hit severe turbulence Thursday night.
"I was just using my computer, and literally it flew up – I flew up in the air, and my computer flew up in the air and somehow I caught it," said passenger Charlie Judkins.
Passengers said there was particular concern over one flight attendant who was injured in the turbulence.
"It was frightening for a moment but it was worrisome for the flight attendant who was injured," said passenger Douglas Domingo-Foraste. "When she came out she had a neck brace and a gash over her eye"
Other passengers said the plane looked to have been damaged.
"The plane was just, like, everything everywhere – and some of the ceiling was like, cracked and stuff like that, so it's definitely good to be back," said passenger Britney Proctor.
The flight was diverted to Rapid City, South Dakota due to the turbulence.
A total of 22 passengers and two crew members were then transported to the hospital for evaluation. All were treated for minor injuries and released.
The flight eventually resumed early Friday morning and eventually landed in Sacramento just before 4:30 a.m.
A total of 145 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane, JetBlue officials say. Of those, 122 people continued onto Sacramento.
