FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A Fairfield boy who was stabbed during a reported domestic disturbance on Friday is recovering and said to be in stable condition at a local hospital.

The 10 year old was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, and shortly after, a woman in the home was taken away in handcuffs, say neighbors.

Police say the incident began as a domestic disturbance. A family member – either the boy's mother or stepmother -- allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed a man and the child. Fairfield Police say the fight ended with a boy lying in the street with critical injuries.

First responders rushed the child by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
