Elderly Woman's Home Firebombed In Woodland
WOODLAND, Calif. (CBS13) – Neighbors and authorities rescued a 102-year-old woman after her Woodland home was firebombed Sunday night, according to police.
Georgia Traynham said she was asleep on December 26 when someone tossed a Molotov cocktail through her dining room window. Her caretaker shook her awake as smoke quickly spread through her home.
"She came running in here and said, 'Get up, get up, you have to get up, there's a fire in the house,'" Georgia said.
Neighbor Juan Vasquez woke up when he heard the window shattering, and quickly ran to the elderly woman's home to try and extinguish the fire with a garden hose.
"For a lady at her age to have to deal with something like that, it's pretty mean," Vasquez said.
Woodland Police officers kicked down the door and pulled Georgia and the caretaker out of the home while firefighters finished off the blaze.
Investigators suspect the attack was random. Georgia says she has lived in her home for more than 75 years without any problems.
Police are still searching for suspects.
