MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (KDKA/AP) — Led by another high-scoring effort by senior guard Casey Mitchell, the Mountaineers dominated American University on home court last night as WVU topped American University by a score of 71-50.
Continuing his impressive streak, Mitchell added 27 points to his team's final tally, while junior forward Kevin Jones scored 16 points for the Mountaineers in the team's first home game in nearly two weeks.
High scorers for the Eagles included Vlad Moldoveanu, who scored 19 points, and Troy Brewer, who added another nine.
Truck Bryant and Dan Jennings played significant minutes for West Virginia after sitting out the entire game against Virginia Military Institute for disciplinary reasons. Bryant, who started, scored nine points in 26 minutes and Jennings had a dunk, a block and three rebounds in 7 minutes.
