WVU Police Officer Steals The Show With His National Anthem Performance

MORGANTOWN (KDKA)- A West Virginia University police officer is gaining a lot of attention for his singing voice.

Officer Carlton Smith was asked to sing the national anthem at last week's WVU men's basketball game against Kansas in Morgantown.

The area was hit with a snow storm, leading to the scheduled national anthem singer to not be able to make it. So at the last minute, Officer Smith was called in to sing the anthem.

The video of his performance was posted on YouTube and has received nearly half a million hits so far.

Smith is a West Virginia University graduate. He's also a Mountaineer Idol and American Idol contestant.

To go along with his performance, the Mountaineers also upset #1 Kansas in the game.
