A woman died after police said they found her shot inside a crashed car in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood on Thursday morning.

Police said the woman was shot in an apartment building, then she got into a vehicle, most likely to get help, but only made it two blocks before crashing into a pole.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, police, fire and EMS were called to Kevin Street in Sheraden for reports of a woman shot around 8:30 a.m.

While en route, police said officers found a vehicle crashed into a pole on Chartiers Avenue at Sutherland Street.

Inside the car, police said they found a woman with a gunshot wound. Firefighters gave her CPR until medics took her to the hospital in critical condition, Public Safety said. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the woman as 26-year-old Taylor Hall.

Angel Morris Angela Morris said she was working from home Thursday morning when she heard sirens and saw police cars flying down Chartiers Avenue. When KDKA-TV told her what happened, she was stunned.

"To hear a woman getting shot — I'm a single mom, so I'm always on the go. It's not comforting at all and it doesn't make me feel any better to let my daughter be out on the streets," Morris said.

Another woman said she bought a home in the neighborhood five years ago because she thought it was quiet and, most importantly, safe. But since she's lived there, she says crime has increased. She said her daughter's car was stolen outside their home recently while they were on vacation.

"There hasn't been any kind of activity like that in quite some time. So for it to start resurfacing, it's just another indication that I just need to go," she said.

Detectives with the Violent Crime Unit are investigating.
