Winter Weather Makes For Slick Commute

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The roads were quite a mess around the area this morning after the latest round of winter weather moved through.

A general one to two inches of snow fell overnight, which made for some slick road conditions around the area.

Interstate-79 in Cranberry Township was covered with snow and speeds were averaging between 30 and 40 mph.

The same snowy conditions were also seen in Zelienople near the corner of Beaver Street and Route 19 around 1 a.m.

As the morning went on, more salt trucks were out across the region. The combination of the salt trucks and rising temperatures vastly improved the road conditions ahead of the bulk of the morning commute.

As of 6 a.m. the main roads were in pretty good shape, but some of the side streets and back roads were still snow-covered.
