Washington County Attracting Economic Development
WASHINGTON CO. (KDKA) - Washington County is driving economic development with economic growth and creation.
The area drew 84 economic development projects and $350 million in capital investment in 2015.
These projects were complimented by more than $73 million in additional investments the county has made in the past decade through the Washington County Local Share Account, which is a fund capitalized by gaming revenues.
While Washington County did experience a jobless rate increase six of the first seven months of 2015, that the jobless rate decreased four of the final five months last year.
Washington County has also capitalized on the business of tourism, which supports 6,000 jobs and generates more than $80.1 million in federal and state tax revenues.
