2-Year-Old Boy In Critical Condition After Taking Large Amount Of A Sedative
HARMONY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A 2-year-old boy was rushed to Children's Hospital after being discovered unconscious due to taking a large number of pills.
No arrests have been made but there are a lot of questions, like who was watching this 2-year-old?
Sources tell KDKA the 2-year-old took a large amount of sedative medication inside the home.
The toddler was unconscious when police arrived and had to use Narcan before medics got to the home.
Police looked through the home after obtaining a search warrant and they described deplorable conditions inside.
The parents are at the hospital with the 2-year-old and an employee with children and youth services came to the home along with the police.
Neighbors were disturbed.
"We've witnessed some things that have caused some concern but never enough that would mean we should speak up," one neighbor said.
"We are all rooting for him obviously," another neighbor said. "I would like to know in the future be able to have updates of what they intend to do for that child's care in his future."
The toddler's dad said that he and his wife have four kids, three together.
He added they were at home at the time the toddler took the medication, saying he didn't know how much he took and that he didn't know what kind of medication it was.
He also disputed the claim that the child was unconscious.
According to him, the child was groggy, had cold hands and feet, and "wasn't responding well."
At this point, the child is recovering in the hospital and talking.
No charges have been filed so far.
