17-year-old boy shot to death inside home in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood
A 17-year-old is dead after a shooting in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood.
Pittsburgh police said they found a teenager with a gunshot wound inside a house on Rochelle Street after they were dispatched to the scene following a ShotSpotter alert and a 911 call around 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers rendered life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead by medics a short time later, police said. He was identified by the medical examiner as Tyrome Gatewood Jr.
Seventeen-year-old Khyree Harper was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.
Court paperwork filed by police details how Gatewood and Harper were each playing with guns inside the home, according to police.
A witness told police that they heard a gunshot and saw Gatewood fall to the floor before Harper said "I didn't mean to."
Bail was denied for Harper, who's being held in the Allegheny County Jail until a preliminary hearing is held next month.
