Steelers Debate Adding 4,000 Seats To Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Winter Classic is going to be a test run, of sorts, for additional seating at Heinz Field.

Currently, the stadium seats roughly 65,050 people, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are now considering adding as many as 4,000 seats in the south end zone.

Temporary seating for the Winter Classic will be a trial run to see if seating there is feasible.

If the Steelers decide to go ahead with the addition, construction wouldn't start until 2012 at the earliest.

More parking spaces on the North Shore may also be needed to accommodate additional fans.
