Somerset Co. Remains Identified, Charges Filed

LARIMER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person is facing charges after human remains found in Somerset County were identified on Tuesday.

According to police, Jonathan Beal, 23, is being charged with homicide, abuse of a corpse and aggravated assault in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Justine Jackson.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Beal.

"We had somebody that's accused of killing someone, and he's not in custody right now, so it's very important that I would consider this person dangerous," said Trooper Steve Limani, of State Police.

Someone was walking on a trail in Larimer Township when they saw the remains and called police. Police and the anthropology team were on the scene throughout the day Monday.

Jackson went missing back on Sept. 13, in the Meyersdale area. Police confirmed Tuesday that the remains found are those of Jackson.

"This group of individuals in law enforcement and outside agencies did a tremendous job of following the information as it came in, as bizarre and as conflicting as the information was," said Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser, the Somerset County District Attorney.

She was last seen leaving a residence on foot, and no one had heard from her since.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Beal is asked to contact police.
