Two people killed in Beaver County shooting; suspect in custody
An Ambridge, Beaver County, neighborhood is grappling with a double homicide, as a suspect in the early morning shooting has now been taken into custody in Ohio.
Neighbors awake early Sunday morning had no clue of just how bad a scene was unfolding just steps from their homes.
"(It's) kind of surreal," neighbor Tobias Peck said.
Two people, a man and a woman, were found shot multiple times in a home along Locust Street. Officials told KDKA-TV that two teenagers were in the home when this shooting took place. Police would only confirm they are relatives of those shot.
"We're going door to door, talking to a lot of neighbors," Ambridge Police Chief John DeLuca said.
Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Howard James Thomas. He's listed as living at the same address as the woman who was shot and killed. She was identified as 38-year-old Ashley Anne Delucca. The man found dead in the home was identified as 54-year-old Andre Littles.
"It's very tragic. (I) just want to make sure the residents of Ambridge know there's no threat right here in Ambridge, and it's an isolated incident," Chief DeLuca said.
Chief DeLuca said the two teenagers were shaken but OK, with the chief adding they are cooperating with police.
"It's a tragedy. I hate to think of what those kids are going to do and how the rest of their lives can go," Peck said.
Peck said he has kids of his own.
"It's hard. The kids took it hard. It's really weird for them to wake up in the morning and hear that somebody passed away violently, right on our street," Peck said.
Police put out a be on the lookout for Thomas. The Ohio Highway Patrol found him near Zanesville following a crash.
Sources tell KDKA-TV that Thomas sustained serious injuries in that crash. Those sources say he was taken to Genesis Hospital for treatment.
