Man In Custody After Police Surround Hotel In New Kensington
NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- Authorities in Westmoreland County took one man into custody Thursday afternoon after surrounding a hotel in New Kensington.
The incident happened around noon at the Clarion Hotel on Tarentum Bridge Road.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, police took 29-year-old Chayson Heilman into custody without incident.
Police say Heilman had been in jail on identity theft and forgery charges.
The Tribune Review reports that he was taken to the hospital for a medical condition last week. After he was released from the hospital, he was supposed to report back to jail, but officials say he never did.
He is now facing escape charges as well.
The Pittsbugh Tribune-Review also reports that officers from several departments including New Kensington, Lower Burrell, Upper Burrell and Westmoreland County Deputy Sheriffs blocked all exits at the hotel while the incident was going on.
