What's the weather going to be like for the Pirates home opener? Here's the forecast.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will be hosting their first game of the season at PNC Park this afternoon. Here's the weather forecast if you'll be heading to the North Shore.
Warm and slightly muggy conditions will be the predominant theme for the Pirates home opener game this evening.
When the game gets underway at 4:12 p.m., temperatures will be in the upper 70s.
Some isolated showers are storms are expected to form as early as 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. northwest of Pittsburgh while a majority of the metro will be warm and muggy with temperatures reaching the upper 70s.
Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m, the storms will gradually build south toward the Rt. 422 corridor and Pittsburgh metro area. These won't be widespread—but scattered to numerous. An isolated severe storm is possible with pea to half dollar sized hail accompanied by strong downburst winds.
Due to the slow nature of storm movement, localized flash flooding will be a threat as well for areas that see repeated storms.
So for those out at the game, bring a poncho or umbrella in case of rain and be ready to move inside if a thunderstorm happens to impact the North Shore.
