PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) — Pitt looks to play the annual City Game and one non-conference men's basketball game per season at the new CONSOL Energy Center.
Pitt will play the Duquesne Dukes Wednesday and then the Tennessee Vols on Dec. 11 in the SEC/Big East Invitational.
The Panthers did play top Big East games at the old Civic Arena before the the Petersen Events Center was opened in 2002.
Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said scheduling such games can be difficult, but the Panthers anticipate playing twice annually at the downtown arena. There are no plans to play any Big East Conference games at the CONSOL Energy Center at this time.
