PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - As confirmed by 93.7 The FAN's Colin Dunlap, Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle will be undergoing surgery on Monday for his injured hip that he has dealt with throughout the season.
Hurdle first mentioned that he would undergo surgery back in September. Claiming he would have the procedure done 72 hours after the season had ended.
"Anybody that's ever had an arthritic hip or knee knows it's a slippery slope," Hurdle said then.
Hurdle has needed hip replacement surgery since the offseason.
"It was a situation I discussed with our medical team that I thought we could manage," Hurdle said. "This one didn't work out anywhere near as close to how we thought it would work out. It got dramatically worse, quicker than anticipated. It's very arthritic, it's bone on bone."
Dunlap also wrote about the pain Hurdle has been dealing with and how he wouldn't let it take him from his team in the middle of a pennant race.
