Pirates GM Huntington: You Can't Always Get What You Want
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - With the MLB trading deadline in the rear-view mirror, Pittsburgh Pirates GM Neal Huntington talks to Vinnie on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.
The Pirates didn't make any moves before the deadline, but Huntington tells Vinnie, "We weren't the only ones who didn't get what we wanted. [Alfonso] Soriano was really the only legitimate bat that was moved. Pretty much anybody that was looking for a bat wasn't able to get the guy they were looking for. Either they weren't available, or they weren't out there."
Still, the Pirates entered August with the best record in baseball, and Huntington offers up his assessment of the team.
"We've pitched great, we've played great defense and we've hit enough," he says. "Those are some things that should continue. Offensively, we've got some areas we can improve in."
"Our goal is to show up everyday," he added. "And if we start thinking about October, we're going to be in trouble."
Huntington also explains how the Pirates can build on the buzz they have created in Pittsburgh and beyond.
