BALDWIN BOROUGH (KDKA) – A police officer was injured in a Baldwin Borough shooting early Sunday morning.
According to police, the shooting happened while four officers were responding to a domestic call in the 5100-block of Elmwood Drive shortly before 4 a.m.
A woman inside the home initially called police claiming her boyfriend was walking around with a gun and was upset. Later in the call, she told police the man had put the gun away and that police were no longer required.
However, police still responded to the scene and when they spoke to the man, they say he refused to show both hands and tried to close the front door.

At some point, one of the officers fired their rifle and the shot struck a fellow officer, Sgt. Ralph Miller.
"At this point, the second officer comes up to assist and there's a gunshot, the first officer goes down," Allegheny County Police Supt. Charles Moffat said. "The officer who went down was shot by the officer who was directly behind him who had fired two shots."
A second officer heard the shot being fired and also discharged his rifle.
Police say a total of three shots were fired, the third of which woke up a neighbor who was surprised to see officers at the home.
"They're very quiet, they're very nice," she said. "They keep to themselves."
Baldwin's police chief said that Miller is a 14-year veteran and had undergone surgery. He is believed to be in stable condition at a local hospital.
"He was in good spirits and was aware of what had happened to him," Baldwin Police Chief Mike Scott said, "and he certainly was supportive of the officer that injured him."
The two officers who fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave. It is unclear what prompted the first officer to fire his weapon at this time.
At the scene, police did also find a gun that had been thrown out of a window.
There are no other reported injuries and the man inside the home could face charges at a later date.
