Mendenhall Reinstated By Steelers Following Suspension
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall is back on the team after serving a one-game suspension.
However, it remains to be seen if he will be in uniform on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The running back was officially re-instated by the Steelers on Monday.
The team suspended Mendenhall for not showing up to the Steelers' 34-24 loss to San Diego at Heinz Field.
As of noon, the team still had not made a roster move to make room for Mendenhall.
Tomlin cited injuries on the offensive line and in the backfield as part of the problem for the run game's struggles.
Tomlin said he is happy with the running back rotation right now with Jonathan Dwyer starting and Isaac Redman backing him up.
Tomlin met with Ben Roethlisberger on Monday and said his comments after the loss to Dallas about play calling were out of frustration.
Emmanuel sanders suffered a rib injury against the Cowboys and will be limited in practice this week.
Ike Taylor will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury.
Due to the extensive amount of injuries at the cornerback position, the Steelers signed Justin King. King is a local product having played high school football at Gateway High School. He also played at Penn State and was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2008.
The Steelers have lost four of their last five games, but their playoff hopes are in their own hands. If the Steelers can knock off the Bengals this week and then beat the Browns in Week 17, they'll qualify for the playoffs.
