Man Stabbed, Robbed While Waiting For Bus In Ambridge

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) – A man is recovering today after he was stabbed during a violent robbery in Beaver County.

Police say the thief attacked the man while he was waiting for a bus in Ambridge Wednesday night. The victim was stabbed several times.

It all started at about 8:30 p.m. when a young man was walking home from work. He had an encounter he didn't expect.

"An individual just got off work, was just walking south thru the alley, cut up into the Rite Aid in the 1000-block of Merchant Street and he was approached by a white male, the actor, and the actor pulled a knife on him and told him to empty his pockets," Ambridge Police Lt. Brian Jameson said.

He got away without injury.

About 90 minutes later, at about 10 p.m. a 60-year-old man was waiting at a bus stop near 11th and Merchant.

That encounter ended in bloodshed.

"The same type of scenario happened, where the actor approached the male who was sitting at the bus stop, told him to empty his pockets. That male instead of emptying his pockets got involved in an altercation with the actor and he was subsequently stabbed three times. He was stabbed twice in the bicep and once in the back," Jameson said.

That victim was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. Police said the wounds were serious but they believe the victim will survive.

Police think the same knife-wielding man was responsible for both incidents.

He's described as a white male, stocky build, 18-25 years old, 180-200 pounds and stands about 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall.

At the time, he wore a blue jacket, black tossel cap. He has black hair, a recent haircut, blue pants and a silver hunting knife.

Ambridge Police said if you come across someone who fits that description, don't try to do anything yourself. Instead, call Ambridge Police.
