Man Recovering After Jeannette Shooting
JEANNETTE (KDKA) - A man is recovering at a Pittsburgh hospital after being shot while walking with his friend in Westmoreland County.
Chauncey Bray, 21, of Greensburg, was walking with a friend near 1st and Hacker Streets in Jeannette around 8:30 p.m. Monday. At that time, a man dressed all in black pulled out a gun and began firing.
Greg Meyers, 18, of 1st Street, said Bray was hit in the shoulder. He pulled him out of the gunfire and called 911. Meyers said multiple shots were fired. He wasn't scared, but was focused on helping his wounded friend.
Emergency responders wanted to fly Bray to a Pittsburgh hospital, but had to take him by ambulance because of icy conditions.
Jeannette Police, with the help of other police departments, used two police dogs to chase the suspect. He fled about a mile to Route 130, where police believe he was picked up by a friend.
The suspect is described to be about six-feet tall with a thin build. His ethnicity isn't known because he was wearing a black mask and all black clothing at the time of the shooting.
Police believe this was a targeted shooting. They also said this is a family-oriented neighborhood with many children, who could have been accidentally injured by a stray bullet.
Bray is in stable condition at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Police are hoping to get more information when they talk with him about the incident.
