Man Hospitalized After Ultralight Plane Crashes In Washington County

NORTH BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash of an ultralight plane Saturday in Washington County.

State police say the aircraft reportedly clipped some trees and then crashed to the ground after taking off from Bandel Airport in North Bethlehem Township around 5:30 p.m.

Authorities have identified the pilot was 79-year-old Keith Ackman of New Eagle.

According to state police, Ackman had to be rescued from the wreckage.

He was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after complaining of chest pains.

There's been no word on his condition.
