Man Accused Of Killing 3 Pleads Guilty In 1 Slaying

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh man accused of killing three people in less than a week has pleaded guilty in one of the cases.

Twenty-year-old Theodore Smedley was sentenced to up to 40 years behind bars Wednesday in the killing of 18-year-old Rasheed Strader. Prosecutors say Strader was shot multiple times outside his mother's home in Pittsburgh in March 2014.

Smedley still faces trial in the shooting deaths of 36-year-old Jamarow Trowery and 18-year-old Rashad Freeman. Police found them shot to death inside a Cadillac Escalade.

In June, District Attorney Stephen Zappala said there are enough aggravating circumstances against Smedley, including a history of felony convictions, for his office to file paperwork showing intent to seek the death penalty against Smedley.
