Local Tire Burglar Caught On Tape
EAST LATROBE (KDKA) -- Someone went through a lot of trouble to steal tires from a local businessman and now he needs your help the catch the guy.
The crime was captured on surveillance tape and it shows the thief going inside not once, but twice.
Mike's Car Lot is a familiar business along Route 30 in East Latrobe, Westmoreland County.
Earlier this month when Mike Bartow opened for business one morning, he immediately noticed something was wrong.
"I went out on the next day, the eighth, and I looked and I seen all the tires scattered everywhere, so I knew something was up," Bartow said.
The surveillance footage from Bartow's camera shows the thief spending 10 to 15 minutes inside the shop.
On his first trip he surveyed the place then went outside to retrieve a flashlight so he could get a better look at what was inside.
In all, the thief got away with four tires – two new ones and two used ones.
If you recognize the man in the surveillance video or you have any information about this case, you're asked to call State police in Greensburg.
"It's going to be easy to recognize him," Bartow said. "The guy had a long ponytail, a Houston sweatshirt and he was driving full-sized truck."
This is the second time someone has burglarized his business.
