Local Contest Looking For Film Scripts That Can Be Shot In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Would you like $30,000 to make your own movie? Now is your chance.
The Steeltown Film Factory is looking for scripts for a film that will be shot in Pittsburgh.
"We give away over $30,000 in cash for people to make movies in Pittsburgh, short films," said Carl Kurlander from the Steeltown Entertainment Project. "You have to write a 12-page script, and the winner not only wins the money, but they get a trip to Hollywood to meet with our Steeltown advisers. Some of the top people in Hollywood."
The last winner of the contest, Yulin Kuang, debuted her 18-minute film Monday evening at the Regent Square Theater. It's called "The Perils of Growing Up Flat Chested."
The second-place winner last time, Chris Preksta, is making a feature-length film out of his entry "Echo Star" after attracting the attention of a Hollywood movie studio.
Preksta is also the co-creator of the popular online series, "Pittsburgh Dad."
