Local Churches Hold Special Services After Conn. Massacre

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- As the nation mourns, people in our area are left reeling by the tragedy in Connecticut.

Many places of worship are opening their doors, welcoming those who need a place to mourn.

They've gathered to pray and remember the innocent people who lost their lives.

In Sewickley, Rev. Russel Shuluga shows the set up for a special prayer service where 26 candles will burn to remember those lost.

The methodist church joins others like the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in Russelton, where parishioners took part in prayers for divine mercy.

It's a service that will take place for nine days, at 3 p.m. which is the hour of mercy.

It will also hold a special mass at 7 p.m. Monday for the victims.

The Sewickley Methodist Church will hold its ceremony Sunday at 11 a.m.
