John Wehner: World Series Parade Was "An Amazing Experience"

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - After taking two of three games against the Rockies this weekend, the Pirates are off Monday before the Miami Marlins come into town for a mid-week series.

Andrew Fillipponi was joined by Pirates color analyst John Wehner who recalled the World Series parade he was a part of in Miami that included cigarette boats and people's backyards.

The majority of Marlins fans in that championship season were bandwagon fans, he says. The deals made by that organization during that time were mind blowing and Wehner admits that "everything was a blur to me back then."

Wehner says he would do whatever he could within reason to bring back AJ Burnett for another year, but he will probably have plenty of offers on the table to choose from that will be more money to move on.

Free agents always pay lip service to the team that they are on, yet very often end up elsewhere, he says. The value of being a mentor only goes so far for a savvy veteran like Burnett, but talent is still the determining factor in success for younger guys like Jeff Locke.
