Rockslide comes down next to Jeannette car wash
At the New Lowery Avenue Car Wash in Jeannette on Thursday, clean up was underway from a rockslide that happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday night, part of which was caught on surveillance video.
Matthew Pyle of Howard Gasoline and Oil, the company that owns the car wash, says that the rockslide happened right in front of their automatic bays that were just recently built.
"The automatics are pretty much what make most of our money on these car washes," Pyle said. "They keep a pretty high flow of traffic through there. But luckily nobody was there to get hurt whenever [the rocks] did come down."
Along with no people getting hurt, the car wash structure, which was just recently renovated, also came out unscathed from the slide.
Plye says that they have had other small slides from the hillside that is on their property before, but he says they have never had one like this.
"We have a local company that's actually right up the street here, they're going to be cleaning up for us," said Pyle. "Hopefully, they said they can get it done in a day, so we will see."
The good news is the car wash self service bays are still open while the cleanup takes place, and they hope to have the automatic bays back open in the next day or so.
