It's going to be a windy day throughout the Pittsburgh area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's going to be a windy day throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Any Alert Days Ahead? None.

Aware: There's a wind advisory in effect for higher elevations through at least noon.

There was plenty of good news for early-morning drivers with snow chances really dipping for the day.  There is still a chance for some snow today but with temperatures hovering near 32 degrees, any snow we do actually see should have only a minor impact on traffic. As the cold front has stalled out, the strongest wind speeds are also expected to remain to our north.

We do have a wind advisory in place for higher elevations but a quick look at current wind gusts shows conditions that are just shy of advisory criteria. The wind advisories may be allowed to expire before their scheduled cancelations that happen at noon for the Laurel Highlands and 3p for the Ridges.

Looking ahead we will see more snow and gusty winds on Wednesday.  We are likely going to see another wind advisory being issued for the day. The best news for Wednesday is that temperatures are expected to be in the mid-30s while snow is moving through, limiting the impact on area drivers who are out and about.

Looking ahead, yesterday's Saturday rain-to-snow chance has moved to Friday and is now a mostly rain event.

Friday is also expected to be the warmest day of the week. The will be snow chances around for both Saturday and Sunday but the impact will once again be minor.  At least that's what it looks like right now.
