Greg Gattuso Preparing Pitt For The Backyard Brawl

Pitt Panthers assistant head coach and defensive line coach Greg Gattuso calls into the Fan Morning Show for his weekly interview to talk about what the difference is between "Backyard Brawl" week compared to other weeks. Gattuso said his defense will have watch out for WVU's offense because they are very fast and can make you look silly in open spaces.

The defensive line will also have to keep their eye on West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith because of his mobility and how he can change the game on one play. He said their style has not changed with Smith at quarterback from previous years.

It is imperative to put pressure on the quarterback even with the secondary players and when there is pressure on the quarterback, Pitt needs to win the one-on-one battles in order to win this game, Gattuso said.

"Seniors matter in rivalry games," Gattuso said. Those players will help the younger players realize how important these games are. This game is important because the winner will likely be the Big East champion.
